Masaki didn’t have great day, but its not all bad news!

As it turns out, you and your friends arn’t breaking the law every thursday night, your playing a game of skill.

Kevin Raley, started a poker tournament for his friends in a Windsor bar, and after an uncover investigation (damn narcs) he and his friends were arrested for Illegal Gambling.

In his defense, The national Poker Players Alliance helped Raley, a software consultant, mount his defense, paying for an expert witness to testify that poker is a game of skill, not chance. The illegal gambling laws apply to “games of chance” where your interaction is independent of the outcome.

The national Poker Players Alliance paid export (a math professor) helped Kevin Raley proved just that, poker is not a game of chance but a true skill, and as such Raley beat the wrap.

So keep those tables open, your friends want to give you their money…

While Masaki is off to the tables I’m into the news...

I was lurking the twoplustwo forums tonight (with a sad inability to sleep at the moment) I stumbled upon an interesting article re-posted from ft.com. It outlined that the “Financial Times”aka ft.com had spoken with a Barney Frank – chairman of the House financial services committee – who was planning to introduce a bill to restructure and provide a framework for online gambling in the United States. wow right? This is big news and affects tables everywhere.

I plan to do some fact-finding on this one and report back with any other findings, but I figured we should keep you in the loop and get prepared for the Legalization of Online Gambling in the United States!
